All That Dignity

by Sarah Oso

It swells together then rattles
into front yard hickory dance,
memory cells, arrows

through panes. Candid
as beaded braids’ chattering
on the nape. Our sun also bristles

lifelong and runny with want.
More ovum than stone, you’d think,
and like us, velvet where pitted.
