poetics of the eye

by Ruxandra Mitache

At the beginning of a new year, I walked the same streets as a ritual: quiet houses, untitled small gardens, sparkling waters, and windows shaping the light before sunset.

These neighboring places felt familiar, ordinary, almost invisible.

I photographed them to remain with them a little longer.

Moving through them became a way of tracing distance—between appearance and reality, exile, visibility and invisibility.

Black and white emphasizes the atmospheric, primal qualities of breath, light, and pause.

Alongside the photographs, writing continues privately, when I dare, carrying thoughts on endurance and unseen emotional spaces.

A white dog appears throughout, perhaps assumed mine.
