Untitled Data Centres
by Avery Nielsen-Webb
Untitled Data Centers examines the hidden industrialization of the American landscape through digital infrastructure. Using Google Earth imagery, the project documents hundreds of AI data center compounds operated by corporations and the U.S. government. Though largely invisible, these facilities consume immense amounts of land, water, and electricity, transforming natural environments into engineered systems. By turning surveillance back on itself, the work exposes the material and ecological costs embedded within AI infrastructure. It challenges viewers to recognize how these hidden systems reshape land, resources, and power under the false promise of technological progress.
