The Carousel

by Parker Baldin

Did the year make any mistakes? The whole
thing and not one. Maybe it was out looking for someone
it knew

Notable in a particular way
Maybe the world forgot some of its passengers

and waved goodbye to you

Passing the year mark, you begin to
contradict yourself

The chair wasn't the same chair you
were talking about yesterday

It feels like something is glued to you
but actually it’s you that’s glued to the earth

All of a sudden everything changes

Michael puts his hand on your chest and guides
you to the next earth

mimicking the pathway

Rolling carousels that can’t regret or speak
