Here are the finalists of the 2015 3Macs carte blanche Prize
We're delighted to share with you the names of the three finalists of the 2015 3Macs carte blanche Prize, as selected by juror, the author Kathleen Winter. The big winner will be announced tonight at the Quebec Writers' Federation Gala and will lay her hands on a cash prize and this most amazing trophy--originally handcrafted by Glen LeMesurier.Cathon, Old Shit I Still Feel Guilty About Cathon lives and works in Montreal, Canada. She has a degree in Visual Arts and has been actively pursuing a career in comics and illustration since 2010. Her first children's book, Les ennuis de Lapinette, was published in April 2015 by the Montreal-based editor Comme des géants.Deborah Ostrovsky, Holy TreasuresDeborah Ostrovsky lives in Montreal where she has written for Geist, Tablet, Lilith, Herizons and Maisonneuve. She has participated in the Literary Journalism Program at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta. Her essays and fiction can be found in Cabin Fever: The Best New Canadian Non-Fiction and Short Stuff: New English Stories from Quebec.Deborah VanSlet, Self-ServeDeborah VanSlet is a long time video producer and emerging writer. A native Montrealer, she launched her media art career in 1989 with Sick World, a video series combining performance, stories and stats. Her experimental videos, including How to Spot an Anorexic, Weather Permitting, and Rules of the Road have screened in festivals, and airplanes, around the world. She also produced and hosted CKUT-FM’s Dykes on Mykes for 16 years. @vansletThe 3Macs carte blanche Prize is awarded annually in recognition of an outstanding submission by a Quebec writer, artist or translator.
