Au revoir, not goodbye

Dear Readers, Contributors, and Collaborators,This past fall, carte blanche celebrated its 10th anniversary, and it has been 10 years that I have been involved in the magazine, first as a co-founder, then as editor. The time has come for me to move on.Stepping down as editor feels a little like how I imagine parents feel when sending a first child off to college: I am sad, I have great hopes for the future of my progeny, and I'm already counting the rent for the (now) spare room.In my case, the spare room is time that will be filled with other personal and collaborative projects including new storytelling ventures, my own writing, and working with the editorial board to produce a print anthology of the best of carte blanche from the last 10 years (stay tuned!). I will also be staying on as creative nonfiction editor of carte blanche and co-producer of This Really Happened.I am delighted to announce that novelist and carte blanche fiction editor Laurence Miall will be taking over as editor along with writer and musician Ben Spencer. Laurence, Ben, and the rest of the editorial board are already hard at work planning this year's editions of the magazine and other projects—keep your eyes out for This Really Happened and other carte blanche events at Blue Met.Thanks to all of you for your stories, support, and encouragement over the last 10 years.Cheers!Maria Schamis Turner
