carte blanche, founded in 2004, is the official online magazine of the Quebec Writers’ Federation. We are celebrating almost 20 years of promoting poetry, creative nonfiction, comics, translation, photography, fiction, and literary commentary from Quebec, Canada, and around the world. With ongoing support from the Canada Council of the Arts and private donations, carte blanche is able to pay all of its contributors and maintains a dynamic and unique niche online.

Creative Nonfiction Editor

The CNF Editor works independently and in collaboration with the editorial team to help steer the magazine forward. The successful candidate would lead the creative nonfiction section of carte blanche for three issues per year. Their responsibilities would include evaluating all creative nonfiction submissions received, organizing submissions, and responding to artists through Submittable.

Section editors receive an honorarium of 600 CAD per calendar year (200 per issue).

Outreach and Events Organizer

The Outreach and Events Organizer will work alongside the Editor-in-Chief and the Managing Editor to expand the readership of carte blanche. Their responsibilities would include scheduling events and promoting new issues, as well as connecting carte blanche with local and international literary and arts organizations. Experience with event planning and familiarity with local publishing are assets.

The Outreach and Events Organizer will receive an honorarium of 700 CAD per calendar year.

Communications Manager

The Communications Manager will be responsible for maintaining the visual identity of carte blanche and maintaining communications strategies to promote visibility for artists and for the magazine. Their responsibilities would include planning promotional campaigns, writing promotional copy, and creating graphics for the website and social media. Experience with Squarespace and analytics are assets.

The Social Media Coordinator will receive an honorarium of 700 CAD per calendar year.

Since carte blanche is a Montreal-based publication it is suggested but not a requirement for the candidates to reside in Montreal.
